1.4 marks the 16th release since the plugin was uploaded to WordPress.org in February of this year. This averages out to a release every 2.5 weeks. In this last release of the year, we have completely redesigned the gallery administration area where you create and manage galleries. Based on the feedback from our users, this area was frustrating to get correct. It’s now easier than ever to add, create, and manage your Gallery components.

Up until this release the Chapter component functionality was left up to themes to implement. We’ve decided to make this fully compatible with all WordPress themes. Now, the chapter component sits as a slide out side menu with easy links to all chapters.
In this release you’ll be asked to update your galleries, similar to the update sequence with the Map markers in 1.3. This is done with one click, and will get your galleries converted over into the new ones. We’ve spent weeks fine-tuning this and testing to ensure you don’t encounter any issues, but if something pops up just let us know and we’ll get it taken care of pronto!
Along with the new Gallery admin and Chapter component features, we have a lot of bug fixes and contributions from other developers.

P.S. – Theme developers take note of this release!
