    Right now it seems to be at 800-900px. I’d like to increase this.

    Aside from modifying the photo size, how would I also increase the frame of the pop-up to accommodate a larger photograph?

    I’d also like to enable scrolling for vertical photographs, like this, for example: https://www.fathomaway.com/slideshow/fathom-2014-best-travel-blogs-and-websites/1/

    Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you!

    Hey Emily,

    I think either image width you set may be off or you may not have a large enough photo: https://aesopstoryengine.com/help/aesop-gallery-pop. You could just leave the image width option in the gallery pop options blank. If you have any screenshots, please send them my way :).

    If you want to create a different style gallery as in the link you sent, you might want to use our gallery component instead of gallery pop: https://aesopstoryengine.com/help/gallery-component

    Thanks Michael. No, it’s all working fine. WHat I mean is I would actually like the photo to be larger than what the template allows. I’d like to showcase a 1000pixel-wide photo (with the captions remaining in the sidebar), so I was wondering if I could tweak the plugin such that the pop-up frame itself could be enlarged to accommodate a larger photo?

    This is exactly the style of gallery I want, so it’s not the gallery component I need. Only thing is I’d like to enlarge the space for the image so that at 100% it widens to 1000px.

    Is that possible? Thanks in advance!

    Hi Emily. You could most likely do this with a bit of CSS by altering the popup window size. I recommend using a plugin like Simple Custom CSS to save your CSS (https://wordpress.org/plugins/simple-custom-css/).

    Along with what Jenny said, you could use CSS inspector in Chrome, which is quite easy to use and will help you find the CSS classes that you’ll need when you want to change the design. Here’s a great in-depth article about this: https://www.html5rocks.com/en/tutorials/developertools/part1

    Thanks! I managed to solve the resizing issue.
    One more thing: how do I allow scrolling within the pop-up, to better view vertical photos?

    Do you mean when someone uses a trackpad or mouse scroll-wheel they can scroll down and it will scroll through the pictures?

    Yes, like this: https://www.fathomaway.com/postcards/quirk/best-travel-blogs-and-websites/
    When you click the slideshow, within the pop-up you can scroll to see photos that go out of the bounds of the frame.

    We’ve found a bug with Aesop Gallery Pop that isn’t allowing vertical images to be fully in view.

    Expect a fix shortly.

    Hi again, I’m also having another problem: my main page shows the most recent posts—and when I have more than one gallery (whether it’s using Gallery Pop or the usual gallery options), it runs into problems. Please see https://southamericandiary.com for what I mean: the Gallery Pop entry shows the number of images “10” above the main image, as opposed to the bottom-right corner of the image, as it should. And if I use two Gallery Pop entries, one of them won’t open.

    Any solutions?

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Emily,

    Just to be sure, are you talking about this blog post: https://www.southamericandiary.com/series/eat-through-history/20141127/gallery-taste-of-peru clashing with this one: https://www.southamericandiary.com/peru/lima/20141029/gallery-life-along-limas-ocean-cliffs on the front page?

    I think you’re gonna need to manually enqueue the stylesheet.

    You could place the following in the Code Snippets plugin:

    if ( is_home() ) wp_enqueue_style(‘aesop-gallery-pop-style’, plugins_url( ”, __FILE__ ).’/public/assets/css/aesop-gallery-pop.css’, true);

    We’re also reviewing how we might make an enhancement to Galleries with this logic.

    Yes, exactly those two galleries. I think whichever one is on top takes precedence, so the food gallery works fine, but not the next one. Instead, when I click it, it appears at the bottom of the page.

    I tried pasting the code you provided, but it still doesn’t work. Any other suggestions? Or perhaps I’m doing something wrong?

    thanks for all your help.

    We’re checking into this. For the time being, I suggest placing a read more tag before any galleries to prevent the front page issue.

    Multiple galleries on the front page have been fixed in 1.2 :).

    Hi Michael,

    I’m running into an issue that mentioned in this thread. For some reason my portrait images are not displaying in full view and they run past the page.

    Has this been resolved? I display a ton of portrait oriented images and require this to work.

    Thanks,

    Hi,

    Just touching base on this. I sent along the private reply but haven’t heard anything back. Any potential answers?

    Thanks,

    Sorry for the delay as this was posted in a resolved thread. We have this as a bug in our issue tracker, but as a temporary fix, you can download the Simple Custom CSS plugin and paste the following:

    .aesop-gallery-pop-gallery img {
    height: 100%;
    }

    Hi,

    I downloaded the plugin. Generated a new gallery and no dice. Still doing the same thing as before. Anything I’m missing?

    Thanks,
    Dominic

    Did you paste the above code into it, then save and activate?

    Hi,

    I did add the code into the custom css tab under appearance. Then hit update. Not sure what you mean by activate as there is no button for that. Took a screenshot for you to see.

    For some reason it didn’t display the image.

    Oh, can you place a period before aesop-gallery-pop-gallery.

    Should look like this:
    .aesop-gallery-pop-gallery img {
    height: 100%;
    }

    Hi Michael,

    That worked thanks! On another note. The alignment seems to stay on the left margin regardless of what I select. Is there something I can inject into the css that will force it to be center?

    Thanks,
    Dominic

    Hi all,
    I have taken over this issue from Michael as he had some personal affairs that prevented him from taking care of the issue. Currently, if you don’t specify Width of Post Image option or specify the width in percents, there was a bug in the cases when the image could be placed to the left or the right edge but not to the center.

    The current work around is to set the Width Option in terms of pixels (For example, “700px”)

    (Some themes do not allow the post image to be moved to the left or right edges. But that’s not a bug as the design of the theme prevents elements to be moved outside the article edges. In those cases setting the width of the image to be smaller than the width of the article would allow you to place the image properly.)

    I will try to release a new version soon that fixes this bug. Also, I will try to add options where you can specify margins for left and right alignment options. Feel free to give us any further comments as I work toward releasing a new version. Thanks.

    Hi a new version of Aesop Gallery Pop, 1.3.0 has been released. It fixes the center alignment problem and adds new Margin option.

    How do I update the plugin? I’ve downloaded the zip and tried installing it but it’s failed to install. Via the license key option in wordpress it tells me theres an update for one of my plugins, which I figure is gallery pop, but won’t give me the option to update.

    Hi I am not entirely sure why you are having the problem. But this should work if other approach fails:
    1. Deactivate Aesop Gallery Plugin from your Plugin list.
    2. Delete aesop-gallery-pop folder under the plugin folder. (should be under wp-content/plugins folder under your wordpress installation.)
    3. Install from the zip file again.

    Hyun, I’ve updated my Novella theme and renewed my license, however, I don’t have the option to set the width of my image(s). I recall this being a feature in a previous version of Aesop, but it doesn’t appear to be an option in the UI any more. On mobile the images appear fine (of course), but on desktop they either appear at 1,070px wide or 700px wide. It doesn’t matter what the original image size is that is uploaded, it will be scaled to one of these two sizes based on if it is wider or more square image.

    Is there any way to control this to where the image can just appear at it’s full, original size rather than being so large? I would like the option to have big and small images.

    Hi Olive, by default Novella disables the image width option. I will change this and will be releasing updates for both Novella and ASE soon (perhaps tomorrow, if not this weekend definitely) after making sure things are working fine.
