    Hi!
    I am building a story here https://freshvanroot.com/storys/?p=6 and on this page i want to get the “by Rolf” removed, also the “read more” tag at the end.
    As for now this is just for a single story.

    Thank you,

    rolf

    Hey Rolf,

    You can use filters to accomplish this. We have included an owner’s manual within your theme download file that contains the filters you would need to modify, located under the Advanced Usage section.

    novella_story_by
    – filters the “by” text
    novella_previous_text
    – filters the “Previous:” text under “Read More”
    novella_next_text
    – filters the “Next:” text under “Read More”

    Using a plugin like Code Snippets you can add a few snippets to filter out the author and read more.

    Hi Rolf. You can also alter the appearance with CSS by targeting the specific selectors and adding display: none;. I recommend using a plugin like Simple Custom CSS to save your CSS (https://wordpress.org/plugins/simple-custom-css/).

    If you’re not familiar with how to use CSS inspector in Chrome, it’s super easy to use and will make finding the css classes that you’ll need when you want to change the design. Here’s a great in-depth article about this: https://www.html5rocks.com/en/tutorials/developertools/part1/

    Hope this helps!

    Hey Rolf,

    Thanks for the follow up. If you can’t figure out how to filter, then I would suggest going with Jenny’s above solution: https://aesopstoryengine.com/topic/how-to-remove-read-more-and-author-name/#post-5436

    Let me know how you go about.

    Hi, Rolf,

    I used Jenny’s suggestions, as I think you did, but didn’t get the same results. Did you write these as CSS? Would you mind replying with the exact code you employed to remove the author and Read Next components?

    Thanks,

    –Todd

    These should work. As I mentioned above, use Simple Custom CSS to save your CSS:

    /* Remove author line on single posts */
    .novella-entry .novella-entry-mast .novella-entry-author {
        display: none !important;
    }

    /* Remove entire READ MORE section including previous and next posts */
    #novella-read-more {
      display: none !important;
    }

    Another way of handling this is to go into the Appearance editor, selecting the Single Post (single.php) file, and commenting out “get_template_part(‘content/readmore’);”

    At least, for me, that was the easiest way to accomplish this.

    Hey! What if I want to remove the author and the category from the post cover in the home page? Should I use simle costum css as well? What should I enter?
    Thank you

    I’ll also need to make the titles of the articles bigger. The idea is that my homepage will be like the first page of a book, so the titles of the articles can be also read as a text. That’s why I need no distractions like categories or the author name. I need the titles to be very clear (maybe they’d look nicer if centered?).

    That’s the web site: https://goo.gl/ZBH2ab

    By the way, I love this template!

    Hi if you would like to remove author’s name and category from the article list, use

    .novella-collection-item .novella-entry-author{
    display:none;
    }
    .novella-entry-category {
    display:none;
    }

    if you want to do the same on individual article pages, use

    .novella-entry .novella-entry-mast .novella-entry-author {
    display:none;
    }
    .novella-entry-cats{
    display:none;
    }

    Hope that helps.
