What is it whith the f… less-files? The colors in the demo are not the same as in the theme. I can`t change it. I want to by a theme as a customer, not as a desginer with much work. I am really p… off! May be you can write it in the theme description.June 4, 2014 at 2:49 pm #1830Nick HaskinsKeymaster
Our support people work pretty hard at providing awesome support, and it’s disappointing to see you be so disrespectful. I’m going to ask that you please rephrase your question in a manner that’s not so disrespectful.June 4, 2014 at 11:57 pm #1832
Sorry, I am very upset that I for my money, to make the product ready. I thought, I get a finished and usable product. So great excuse. I find it very disrespectful on the contrary, such a product to sell. It is enough. I want my money back, because: I work hard for my money!.

Here again the problem: The theme looks gray and dull. If I want to change the colors, the width or the height of the gray navigation bars or the font size or anything else, I have to change and compile *.less files and no simple *.css files. I know nothing about LESS. I need to install unknown programs and learn or pay someone to change the subject. That was not my intention when buying. I would not learn LESS, that I will not learn LESS. I buy a product for ease of use and not for a lot of work. That`s why I am angry and want my money back.June 5, 2014 at 6:39 pm #1892
Hi Anke. I’ve sent you a couple emails but don’t know if you have received them. What my email stated was:
It sounds like you have some sort of conflict going on with your site. You can customize Andersen by visiting WordPress Admin —> Appearance —> Themes, then clicking the “Customize” button under Andersen. From here you will see a tab labeled Andersen where you can change the logo, background, text color, link color, and footer text.
If this does not help solve your issues, I kindly ask that you post in our support forum at https://aesopstoryengine.com/forums/. We can help you through any technical problems you may be having here.
As our reminder, our product policy is located at https://aesopstoryengine.com/product-policy/.
I believe you have some sort of conflict going on so can you provide me with a screenshot of your Andersen admin options? (WordPress Admin —> Appearance —> Themes, then clicking the “Customize” button under Andersen)
Also, if I could have a link to your website, that would be great! It’s hard to help when I can’t see what is happening.June 5, 2014 at 6:41 pm #1893
Also, you should never be editing the core less files. To alter the appearance with CSS, I recommend using a plugin like Simple Custom CSS to save your CSS (https://wordpress.org/plugins/simple-custom-css/).
When you edit core files, all of your work will be erased when an update is applied.June 9, 2014 at 5:52 pm #1928
If you still need help with this, please let us know, otherwise I’ll close this topic in a few days. Thanks!June 10, 2014 at 4:35 am #1932
We’re talking past each other. I want a theme that works. I can not set height and background color of the navigation. The plugin, which you suggested, does not change what I want to have changed.
I want to install any plugins or have other work. I bought a product that does not look like on the product photo and which I can not really adjust without a lot of work, for which I have to pay someone.
One last suggestion. I try that Jorgen theme or I would like my money back.June 10, 2014 at 1:40 pm #1936
Hi Anke. I don’t see where you answered the questions I asked so instead, does your site look like this? https://aesopthemes.com/andersen/
It would be great if you could take a screenshot of your site so I can see what you’re trying to change. It is a lot easier to help someone when you see what they see. A link to your website would be even better.
If you tell me exactly what you’re trying to change, I can help you. Draw on a screenshot to show me (you can use http://www.jing.com).
Looking forward to your response.June 10, 2014 at 1:53 pm #1937
I want to change everything that I can not change with the 3 existing options! Not only the colors of the background and the text and the links!
I want to change the following:
1. Backgroundcolors of the sidebar and the topbar!
2. Size of the sidebar and the topbar!
3. Colors of the fonts and the links in the sidebar and the topbar!
4. Width of the content!
I do not want a safe, but simply a variable theme.June 10, 2014 at 4:41 pm #1957
Thanks for your reply, Anke.
If you take a look at the Andersen product page (http://aesopstoryengine.com/library/andersen/), you will see that the customization options include “text, link, and background color controls”. The documentation does not state any of the options you are requesting. You can, of course, always change these things with custom CSS (if you are familiar with CSS). As I stated previously, you should use the plugin Simple Custom CSS to write/save your CSS (https://wordpress.org/plugins/simple-custom-css/) – never ever edit the core files.
Background colors, text colors, widths, heights, fonts, and more are easily changeable by writing a little CSS.
Since you mentioned Jorgen, take a look at the options available with Jorgen at https://aesopstoryengine.com/library/jorgen/. The options for Jorgen are the same.. “text, link, and background color controls”.June 11, 2014 at 5:39 am #1965
The Andersen Theme is not acceptable. I have been trying for days to change the navigation menus and it does not work. My last suggestion: I try that Jorgen theme, so I have not paid my money for nothing, or I want my money back.June 11, 2014 at 7:35 am #1967Nick HaskinsKeymaster
I’ll point you to our refund policy here:
A refund is only offered if you allow us to work with you to solve your problem. We’re trying to provide support to you but it doesn’t help when you do not follow our instructions. We’ve asked for a screenshot and link to your site so that we can help you, several times now both through email, and this forum thread. Until you can provide that, we can only guess as to what’s happening.
“I have been trying for days to change the navigation menus and it does not work”
What do you mean by this? There are options within the theme to set the menu for the site.
We do not provide a refund because you think the theme is “not acceptable.” A lot of hard work and time goes into making these products. The product page is very well detailed as far as what colors you can change, and also includes screenshots. We’re not going to refund you because you bought the theme expecting it to do something else. We’re not going to refund you because you’re unable to make all of these customizations with options.
Customizations beyond what the theme can do can be done with CSS, and again, we’re not providing a refund because this theme cannot do everything that you want it to.Lastly, we’re certainly not providing you another product for free so that we can then support that one for you as well.
Are there any errors with Andersen, or any issues with the theme that cause it to not work correctly as advertised in the product description?June 11, 2014 at 11:21 am #1977
I give it up and buy the Jorgen Theme. Too bad. I’m not happy about it.June 11, 2014 at 1:16 pm #1987
Hi Anke. I hope you enjoy Jorgen! Both Jorgen and Andersen are great themes. If you decide to start customizing with CSS and you get stuck trying to figure something out, just let us know and we’ll try to help. 🙂June 11, 2014 at 1:20 pm #1988
Well. I want to install a widget area in the footer and a fixed headermenu. Can you help me?June 11, 2014 at 1:57 pm #1990
With Jorgen, you can activate the header menu by visiting WP-Admin –> Appearance –> Customize –> Jorgen Options –> then check “Enable Front Page header”. This adds a site title, social icons (if you have the Aesop Social Addon), and pop-out menu on the right.
For the footer widget area, there are several plugins on the WordPress site that can accomplish this, such as:
There are probably some for the header too! Just perform a keyword search at https://wordpress.org/plugins/.
Hope that helps!

Thanks. Can I put the Front Page header on the Category Page or Archiv Page or better on every Page?
