    Hi Hyun,

    I just replied because I hadn’t done anything with articles or videos up to this point.
    But I just embedded two videos in a new article without editing anything myself on the “text” tab, and the behaviour now is as I expected it to be. It seems you fixed it!

    Thanks.

    Hi Hyun,
    Indeed if I choose Mute ON I can access the autoplay options.

    My issue is that I didn’t want autoplay at all, so not choosing Mute ON shouldn’t have any impact I thought, the video wouldn’t autoplay as intended, and when somebody wanted to play it, it’d play with volume normally.

    The behaviour I was having was that it would for some reason autoplay randomly, even with volume.

    But I think I found a workaround.
    Editing on the text tab, the video component also has the following attributes: viewstart=”on” viewend=”on”.
    I just changed those to OFF, and then left the rest as I usually do, and now I’m getting exactly the behaviour I want.

    I don’t know what those do, but it made the trick apparently.

    So now my videos are mute=”off” autoplay=”off” viewstart=”off” viewend=”off” and I get exactly what I want. A video that’s just there, won’t autoplay, and when some viewer chooses to view it, it starts normally with volume. That had been the usual behaviour until this last change.
    Cheers!

    Hi,</p>
    <p>I tried but when I save it appears as if the overlay is not “detected” and reverts to only the title and original formatting.</p>
    <p>When I was first playing with the overlay with your first answer I had the same problem but somehow it magically “clicked” and the overlay began showing as normal. I haven’t been able to make it work this time. It may be just my problem.</p>
    <p>Here’s my steps:</p>
    <p>1. Saved this custom CSS as per your reply (last lines).<br />
    </p>
    <p>2. Then got this.<br />
    </p>
    <p>3. When I revert the code, I get this (normal overlay).<br />
    </p>
    <p>Something tells me you’ve done it all right and this is a particular issue that I have (don’t know where though), but up to this point I haven’t been able to make it work.

    Hi,

    I downloaded and installed the very latest version of ASE.
    I think I have a thumbnails issue with my installation.
    I didn’t have images on size 300×169 indeed, I made them manually and uploaded them via FTP, and the result is this:

    Looks fine to me, let me know if this is the intended result.

    ———–

    Now, I am trying to work on the thumbnails issue, and I found this:

    These are all of the thumbnail sizes that are currently registered:

    thumbnail: 150×150 pixels (cropped to fit)
    medium: 300×300 pixels (proportionally resized to fit inside dimensions)
    medium_large: 768×0 pixels (proportionally resized to fit inside dimensions)
    large: 1024×1024 pixels (proportionally resized to fit inside dimensions)
    post-thumbnail: 672×372 pixels (cropped to fit)
    longform-full-width: 1170×600 pixels (cropped to fit)
    longform-huge-width: 1800×1200 pixels (cropped to fit)
    longform-thumbnail: 490×318 pixels (cropped to fit)
    longform-thumbnail-large: 650×411 pixels (cropped to fit)
    aesop-cover-img: 1250×9999 pixels (proportionally resized to fit inside dimensions)
    aesop-tiny-cover: 400×9999 pixels (proportionally resized to fit inside dimensions)
    aesop-component: 1250×9999 pixels (proportionally resized to fit inside dimensions)
    aesop-character: 200×200 pixels (cropped to fit)
    aesop-collection: 300×300 pixels (cropped to fit)
    aesop-grid-image: 400×9999 pixels (proportionally resized to fit inside dimensions)
    sow-carousel-default: 272×182 pixels (cropped to fit)

    As you can see, there’s no 300×169 option there. It may or may not have anything to do with ASE, but just letting you know.

    Thanks again!

    Hi,</p>
    <p>I updated to the latest and now the gallery doesn’t appear at all in mobile, it doesn’t matter whether I am using Longform PRO or any of the default themes, or whether it’s landscape or portrait orientation now. In Longoform I get a big space and the caption, on 2017 only the caption.</p>
    <p>Here in Longoform: </p>
    <p>Longform</p>
    <p>2017</p>
    <p>Don’t know if that’s the intended effect of the update, but just letting you know.</p>
    <p>Anyway, have a very nice christmas and thanks for ASE!<br />
    Cheers.

    Hi Hyun,

    First and foremost thanks a lot for your support, it’s not only timely but it’s great!

    I have been playing with your suggestions and I have achieved almost everything I wanted.
    I could leave things as they are with the results I got and it would be fine, but I want to ask you a further couple of things in case it’s possible to fine tune:

    If you would be so kind to please go to:

    http://www.alpharamirez.com/es/korea-du-north-septima-parte/

    Once there:
    Go to the third chapter “DE REGRESO EN CHINA”.
    I worked in this chapter with all your advice. I should have known at first that the key was in the overlay, but honestly I am not much of a coder (I’ve had my “crash courses” trying to get this website to look as I want though). As you can see the legibility is much better than the other chapters which I haven’t yet modified. There’s only two things that I wasn’t able to achive:

    1. The whole text is not centered vertically as with the default chapters, and I couldn’t find a way to make it. I was on google and reading for a few hours but none of the methods I found would work (a couple of them actually wacked the whole page haha, but I got it back). Do you know how this could be done? Compare that third chapter with “HASTA LUEGO KOREA DEL NORTE” chapter for example, the text is right in the middle both horizontally and vertically.

    2. Also, the spacing between the title and the subtitle is too much. See the “HASTA LUEGO KOREA DEL NORTE” chapter and the subtitle is just below the title. But in third and modified chapter, there’s too much space between the title and the subtitle, and I haven’t been able to find a way to make it work, tried playing with HTML, adding just a <br>… stuff like that, but whatever I did couldn’t do the trick as needed.

    What I did:
    1. I added this additional custom CSS for the tag “<mark>” to display white letters and a black semi-transparent background instead of the default solid yellow:
    mark {
    background-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.71);color: white;
    }

    Then:

    2.This is the code I wrote in the overlay:
    <p style=’font-family:Old Standard TT;font-size:52px;font-weight:300;line-height:57px’><mark>DE REGRESO EN CHINA</mark></p>
    <p style=’font-family:Old Standard TT;font-size:29px;font-weight:normal;line-height:29px’><mark>DESHACIENDO LOS PASOS EN SHENYANG</mark>

    By the way, as you can see the “Chapters” word translation was a simple as making the .po and .mo files, again I don’t know why didn’t I think of this first, but thanks a lot for your help, I guess I wouldn’t have found it without hahaha.
    Cheers!

    Hi, it was a bug with the theme indeed. They provided me with some javascript to add and it was fixed.

    Thanks for answering here though!
    Cheers.

    Hi! I contacted the authors as well and it seems it’s a bug on their end. They said it is supposed to be fixed on the next update, due “in a week or so” according to their words. Let’s see if it is, I’ll keep you posted just so people know.

    Thanks a lot!
