Ok, that put me on the right path. There are only two styles of quotes: PULL QUOTE and FULL WIDTH. The style must be set to Full Width to be able to view a quote with a background color.

    Thanks.

It actually happened last week. I created a temporary post of my story so I could familiarize myself with the Aesop setup — that was when I sent my initial emails about the quote component and the gallery/parallax image components. Once the text of my story was locked, I deleted all the content from the temporary post and started over again. The quote component worked just fine in the temporary post but when I reinserted it into the new post, it no longer contained the background color.

    Here is the shortcode:

    [aesop_quote type="pull" align="right" quote="“Basketball is almost a religion here.”" cite="Pete Butler, Chinle girls coach"]

Yep. It was installed even before Aesop and appears to be up to date.

Ahh thanks Michael. You initially suggested using the gallery component and when I tried it the first time, I overlooked the parallax layout option so I assumed I just hadn’t explained my goal properly.

You’re exactly right: that’s what I was looking for. Thanks again.

    Michael,

I didn’t want to make my first post too long but maybe I didn’t put enough information in it. I want to insert a single image into the body of my story and then apply the parallax effect to it so that everything below the image scrolls over the fixed picture … essentially, exactly the way the parallax works with the header image. The effect works beautifully in the demo example, The Glare of Kingston Hill.

As I understand the process, all I need to do is: select a spot in my story, click “add component,” click “parallax,” select an image, and then click “insert component.” When I do that, the engine inserts the proper image in the proper place but there is no parallax effect. The text below the image on the page does not slide over the fixed image when I scroll down.

Have I missed a step in the process? Or is there some other common mistake I’m making?

    Thanks.
